The GBP6.4 million ($9.4 million approx) Djanogly Community Leisure Centre has been developed as part of the city’s ongoing Leisure Centre Transformation Program. The leisure center features a six-lane, 25m pool, fitness suite, sauna and a dance studio.
Archial Architects has taken care to respect the privacy of neighboring residential properties. The leisure center has been integrated with obscured external glazing and integral blinds to all viewing windows.
The architects have also tried to make it a visually harmonious structure blended well with the neighboring Norman Foster-designed Djanogly City Academy. To ensure this, Archial has applied overhanging eaves and colonnade details into the design and a common car park. The resulting visually appealing leisure center can also act as a community hub for local residents.
