The district has many allegations against the firm, which earlier sued the school district over non-payment of $583,000 in design fees. The school board has filed suit alleging that the design did not meet state building codes for fire, safety and handicapped accessibility, among other things, which resulted in cost overruns. The board has appealed for a refund of $5.3 million paid to DLR Group, in addition to $50,000 for the damages and attorney fees, according to the documents of the court.

However, Griff Davenport, managing principal of DLR Group’s Minneapolis office, has been reported as saying that they continue to say and believe that the product is outstanding, world-class, and nothing about what has been alleged will change the fact. He was also reported saying that 95% of their response is denial of assertions, according to media statements.
