Terminal B, spanning 2,000 square metres, has been developed on the premises of the earlier arrivals terminal and will serve the foreign airlines operating from Doha. The check-in area of the present transfer and departures terminal will exclusively cater to Qatar Airways and has been rebranded as Terminal A.
Terminal B incorporates a larger check-in area with 35 counters such as an online check-in lounge, a customer service desk for big luggage and a currency exchange bureau. It also features a new high-tech baggage-handling system, food and beverage units as well as ATM machines.
Further, the terminal also features a bigger immigration hall covering an area of 600 square metres. The hall features 10 counters and three e-gates to avoid long queues and facilitate passport clearance formalities.
Other upgrades to the airport involve expansion of the check-in area at Terminal A. In addition, new exterior roadway signage has been created which will help guide travellers to the two terminals.
The facelift of DIA will cater to the enhanced passenger traffic in the airport till 2012 when the New Doha International Airport will be ready to open. DIA is operated and managed by Qatar Airways.
