This year, the Burlington Arcade and the Royal Academy of Arts have come together in partnership for the very first time to create a light-based installation by UVA entitled ‘Onward’. The arcade was lighted up on November 19, 2009.
Connecting the custom-designed LED seasonal lighting display to the Dynalite control system was proving to be a technological challenge. The Burlington Arcade’s electrical contractors tracked down Dynalite Dimensions experts Morban via the internet, and a Morban authorized installer was on site. But in spite of his best efforts, the sophisticated control system required the specialized skills of a programmer to input a new set of commands to operate the display.
After a couple of telephone exchanges with Dynalite national sales engineer Phil Hardy, all the details of the original installation were located at the Philips Dynalite HQ, and hastily dispatched, allowing Morban technical director Gary Morgan to revert all the load centers to the original configuration settings. Gary reworked the Dynalite touch-screen control panel to program in the required ‘Christmas Lights On’ and ‘Christmas Lights Off’ settings.
After launching its new dimension dealer accreditation and training framework in early 2009, Philips Dynalite welcomed the first UK member, Morban. The Philips Dynalite Dimension program provides standardized training, improved access to technical support, and essential marketing support to all accredited companies and individuals, including AV installers, system integrators, and electrical contractors.
Morban is a specialist custom installer and Europe’s first Philips Dynalite Dimensions dealer. Morban provides a total service including lighting design, integrated services design, logistical support, installation, programming, commissioning and long term customer support. Lighting control and automation systems designer Dynalite has become part of the Royal Philips Electronics, and Philips Dynalite is headquartered in Australia.
