Designed by David Morley Architects, the water polo arena will be sited next to the striking aquatics centre in the south of the park. The structure will be designed as distinctive, with a sloping inflatable roof and silver wrap.
The temporary 5,000-seat venue is the last of the venues to be built on the Olympic Park in Stratford. ES Group will build the arena’s main structure, with another four UK companies including Ipswich-based Jackson Civil Engineering, which will carry out the substructure works; Worcestershire’s Alto Seating Systems; Glasgow-based A&T/Barr & Wray, which will install the pools; and Surrey’s Byrne Group, which will do general building work.
Balfour Beatty Engineering Services will carry out the mechanical and electrical work.
