Developed specifically to meet strict Health and Safety regulations, the FoodSafe system delivers a completely seamless finish, removing the threat of microbes and bacteria being harboured in hard-to-clean joints. Capable of withstanding the heat from steam cleaning, a hygienic environment can easily be maintained whilst also providing protection from the risk of thermal shock from the cooking process. Selected from a range of 12 colourways, the Kam Kee floor is finished in a striking blue.

Suppliers of food to Chinese and Japanese restaurants and takeaways, rapid expansion has meant that Kam Kee Ltd has had to relocate to a larger, 500m2 production unit in Woolwich. Working with main contractors, Tam & Co., Ryebrook initially laid a bedding screed onto the concrete base effectively creating a fall throughout the kitchen area, allowing waste water to drain down through a channel in the centre of the room.

Ryeflor HF, an impervious polyurethane screed was then laid to a thickness of 6mm, except for in the freezer area where it was laid to 6mm except for in the freezer area where it was laid to 9mm to cope with the extremes of temperature. For ease of cleaning, a 150mm high radius cove skirting was created around the perimeter of the room and at all junctions of the wall and floor.

Non-production areas such as staff rooms and changing facilities were laid with Ryeflow 2000 Plus, a seamless epoxy resin floor with a slightly textured finish to give a safe anti-slip surface.

We have worked with Ryebrook Resins on two previous occasions when refurbishing Chinese restaurants, explains Michael Tam of Tam & Co. “their FoodSafe floor is exceptionally hard-wearing, giving the ideal finish for any area which has to work to stringent health and safety guidelines.
