The project aims to improve the safety and security of the baggage screening process, as well increasing public space in the ticket lobby.
It will remove the existing EDS and explosive trace detection machines from public spaces and install a state-of-the-art automated sort controlled, outbound baggage handling system. These improvements will allow the airport to improve the passenger experience in the future.
Design and construction is expected to be completed in November 2010.
Throughout the project, the airport will remain fully operational for all commercial airline activity. Messer Construction Company will serve as the prime contractor and Texas-based Glidepath will provide and install the in-line EDS equipment.
