The project is the university’s first on-campus residential housing. It will include the construction of three, four- storey buildings, which will be located on the northwest corner of the NEOMED campus. The residential housing village will include private parking and paved walkways for easy access to the existing campus facilities. It will offer 185 units that will house approximately 340 residents.
Each one- and two-bedroom unit will be fully furnished with living room furniture, kitchen appliances, and a washer and dryer. The units provide each resident with a private study area, bathroom and walk-in closet. The buildings include group study areas on each floor, a large recreation area, and a game room in the main building. In addition, each of the three buildings are designed and engineered to minimise sound transfer between units to ensure the privacy of each resident.
The project, which is part of the university’s master expansion plan, includes more than $130 million in construction currently planned for the Rootstown campus. When completed, the current construction projects will more than double the university’s existing 450,000 square foot campus.
As part of a long-term partnership, SIignet will provide NEOMED with comprehensive, turnkey development and finance services for the project, which includes the direction and oversight of all design, construction, finance, and management activities.
The project will be completed and ready for occupancy in the fall of 2013 and will be available for lease to all students and the University community at large.
