The 13,000 square feet two-story Hackerman-Patz House will house families of patients being treated for long-term ailments. The renovated facility will include about 16 sleeping quarters with private bathrooms, Community bathroom on each floor, a chapel, a kitchen, community room and dining room.

Hackerman-Patz House will be named after Whiting-Turner Contracting Co. head Willard Hackerman and his wife Lillian Patz Hackerman who donated the entire amount for the facility’s renovation.

Whiting-Turner is the project’s general contractor. The renovated facility is expected to open in early 2012.

The hospital is planning a number of other upgrades, including a 60,000-square-foot medical office building costing between $16 million and $18 million and to start in June, a 500-space parking garage and a new emergency department space with seven units.
