All the new units are located on the sixth storey of the building. It includes the new Discharge Lounge and Intravenous Therapy wing. The discharge unit possesses accommodation for 14 discharged patients whereas the IV Therapy department comprises a 12 bed capacity.
The sixth level now also features the new Emergency Acute Care department. The wing will house common rooms housing a total of 16 beds, as well as four private rooms. The same floor also consists of the new Medical/Surgical department. The entire unit has a capacity to house 26 beds out of which 10 beds are located in private rooms.
The project forms part of HMC’s patient care environment programme involving facelift and expansion its current hospitals including the Women’s Hospital and Rumailah Hospital.
