This was a $1.1 million project. The renovations includes a new energy-efficient heating and cooling system, state-of-the-art acoustical treatment, new house lights, new sound and lighting control panels, new rigging, winches, front and side curtains, more comfortable seating with wheelchair accessible accommodations, and coordinated painting and carpeting. The school district kicked off a concert series to celebrate this renovation and reopening of the auditorium.
The auditorium was in a state of poor repair. The stage rigging had been removed in 2005 after it was declared unsafe, making it impossible to hang scenery for theatrical productions. Asbestos was discovered during the renovation process. It required $20,000 in asbestos abatement from a qualified contractor.
