Heron International is one of the Europe’s leading property investment and development companies.Heron Tower has been designed by international architectural practice Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF)
Heron Tower, located at 110 Bishopsgate in the City of London, is a multi-occupied office building which will provide world class office space, setting the standards for offices of the future. Its design is both visionary and environmentally focused.
The tower will be 755 feet tall and will contain 46 stories upon completion in March 2011. When the tower reached its 44th floor, it surpassed Tower 42’s 600 feet height, and has officially become the tallest building in the City of London. Tower 42 held the title of the tallest building in the City of London for 30 years.
The Heron tower is designed to offer 40,000 square meter of office space in the center of London in a three-floor village structure. The village structure is designed to offer clusters of business activity across three levels. The structure contains 11 villages in total.
Six external lifts are provided in the building to provide views of the bustling city. The exterior of the structure generates energy through a ‘veil’ of photovoltaic cells on the south elevation. This veil also functions as solar shading. Heron is also planning to add a restaurant and sky bar, to take advantage of the city setting, with external terraces at 175 meter high. Recently, the tower has also achieved an ‘Excellent’ rating from BRE Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM).
Heron Tower cannot flaunt the title of ‘the tallest building in the City of London’ for long, as two projects – Renzo Piano’s Shard and Bishopsgate Tower – are closely chasing it to become the tallest in the city.
