The project broke ground in April 2011. The new library will substitute the current 1966-built L.A. Foster Library and will span 20,000 square feet. The new facility will help the university increase its available space for print and audiovisual materials by twice its existing size. The library will also be designed to allow accessibility for the disabled.
The new facility will incorporate multimedia-equipped computer classrooms, computer labs, as well as private and group study rooms. Among its other features include audio and video editing stations, a coffee corner, a fireplace lounge, reading space dedicated for children, as well as additional area for expanded print and audiovisual collections.
The Foster Library will be transformed into a student centre after being vacated.
