The hotel, originally designed by Sevillian architect Jose Espiau y Munoz, has been remodelled by a local Sevillian architect Demopolis. The facility is characterised by Arabic-inspired arches, soaring towers and windows bearing a renaissance style. The hotel interiors have been designed by HBA Design with original hand-painted Triana and Mensaque ceramic tiles, authentic wood carved furnishings and marble floors serving as the predominant design elements.
The hotel accommodates 151 guest rooms and suites which includes three individually-designed signature suites. All the rooms bear a Moorish, Castillian or Andalusian design theme and don a distinctive colour scheme, custom-designed furniture pieces and lavish interiors.
The three signature hotel suites include the Reales Alcazares Suite, the Torreon Suite and the Royal Suite. The Reales Alcazares Suite is characterised by warm, dark interiors and allows views over the Real Alcazar’s gardens and fountains. Torreon Suite sports a private terrace extending out into the hotel’s corner tower and allows views of Seville. The Royal Suite spans 200 square metres and is adorned in hand-selected antique pieces such as the Bargueno which is a Spanish Renaissance cabinet featuring mother-of-pearl inlay. Bargueno was gifted to the hotel by The Aga Khan.
The property now comprises advanced meeting and event space which includes the newly revamped Salon Real Ballroom. The ballroom now has a capacity to accommodate a maximum of 500 people and opens out to a large terrace which provides views over the hotel’s gardens. The ballroom has been restored with a handcrafted restoration of the ceiling. It has now also been adorned with Bohemian inspired chandeliers in crystal and bronze, and a new wrought iron door drawing inspiration from Andalusian Cathedrals.
Hotel Alfonso XIII further houses a host of food outlets including the Bodega Alfonso modern Spanish restaurant, Taifas poolside restaurant and bar, San Fernando, and the renovated American Bar. Bodega Alfonso features a spacious terrace. The interior design of Taifas draw reference to Moorish roots. The Art Deco-inspired American Bar, ideal for intimate gatherings, now incorporates an Art Deco style.
