New York-based Stonehill & Taylor supervised the remodeling of the hotel.
The redesigned interiors feature skyscraper-style case goods, geometric patterns, chocolate upholsteries and silver and gold colors on dark zebra wood.
One of the major aspects of refurbishment is the expansion of guest rooms from 860 to 912 including 64 suites present on floors 19 to 40. Several floors used for commercial tenants have now been transformed into hotel guest rooms. On account of rising demand for rooms with double configuration, the hotel has transformed 80 of its small rooms into 40 bigger ones.
The contemporary, Art Deco-inspired rooms have been remodeled to include more area. The New Yorker Suite, City View room and Tower Accommodation have been renovated to include plush bedding, flat-panel HDTV, Wi-Fi access and offer views of the city’s skyline.
The rooms feature new fixtures, wallpaper, geometric-patterned carpets, furniture, brushed stainless steel torchieres with pull-chain, dome-topped desk lamps and mica shades. A customized six-point star provides overhead lighting to produce search lights effect along the ceiling. Other features include diamond-stitched headboard and shimmering draperies.
The bathrooms include chrome-finish faucets and fittings, back-painted glass panel, arched shower curtains, new tapered pedestal sinks and customized mirror and glass shelf assemblies.
Each suite can accommodate up to four guests and features flat panel TV, marble bathroom and wet bar and refrigerator. A new, four-pipe HVAC system has been installed that enables guests to regulate air-conditioning and heat.
A central point has been created in the redesigned lobby with a feature chandelier stretching down to a mirrored coffee table. The lobby also features lounge seating, refurbished marble floor, new check-in and concierge desks, gold-coffered ceiling in the double-height lobby and new restaurant facades leading to the lobby.
Exterior upgrades include a new marquee, restored stonework, new signage, automatic revolving entryway doors and expansive windows for a bright view.
Located near Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, other amenities offered include an intimate conference center, grand ballroom and two dining areas.
