Announced by Sushil Kumar Modi, the deputy chief minister of Bihar, while inaugurating a two day workshop on the ‘Redesign of Patna Museum’ organized by the state government’s Department of Art, Culture and Youth Affairs.

Designed by the National Institute of Design (NID), the new museum, meeting the specifications of an international museum, will address the space constraints of the present facility. The museum will be built on the land across from Patna Women’s College on Bailey Road. The museum has over 25,000 rare historical artifacts in its possession, of which only 4,000 items are on display due to space constraints.

Stating that funds have already been sanctioned from the state cabinet, Modi also outlined the government’s plan to develop the existing Patna Museum on Buddha Marg that would be linked to the Patna Tourism Circuit to attract visitors.
