The dilapidated hotel situated at Third and Market streets, has been a hotel, boarding house, apartment building and methamphetamine lab crime scene at different points in time.
The remodeling work would cost a total of $3.1 million and is expected to be completed by the middle of 2011. The project is a long time dream come true for the senior citizens of New Cumberland, said Gerald Waln, chairman of the Olde Towne Development Committee.
The building had initially been constructed in the early 1900s and was purchased by the Cumberland/Perry Housing and Community Partnership in 2006.
