The iStudio future classroom, which cost approximately NT$1,500,000 ($45678), is about 39.66 square meters and can house a maximum of 20 students. It is inspired by American architect Louis Kahn’s idea that ‘The first school began with a man under a tree, surrounded by those who awaited his speech.’
With CNC-cut shapes of tree branches from the floor to the ceiling, the studio is equipped with transformable classroom furniture which can be moved freely for various instructional purposes, such as lectures, presentations, and discussions.
The Automatic Environmental Control allows the light to go partly or completely on and off when teachers step on the button on the floor. It provides the most suitable learning environments for teachers delivering lectures, students exchanging ideas and classmates making presentations, so studying can become an easy and enjoyable experience.
Installed with smart touch screen and sensing technologies, the Transformable Smart White Boards can join together vertically as a large white board for teachers to write down their key points. Each of them can be transformed and also act horizontally as a desk for students to jot down their comments in group discussion. The discussion will appear on the touch screen for their peers to watch.
The real-time tagging system is the unique element of the studio. With an iPad or laptop, students may add tags on the real-time lecture video to enhance the interactive learning process. Then, the instructor can track the teaching state by reading the response on their screen to better accommodate the needs of students.
