Located at 444 West Lake Street on the western bank of Chicago River near two rail hubs in the West Loop, the new office tower will be 45-storey tall. The project has been dubbed as River Point. It has been designed by architectural firm Pickard Chilton and will be developed by Hines. The tower will offer about 900,000 square feet of leasable space and is a pre-certified LEED Gold building.
The project also involves development of a 1.5-acre public park atop the existing rail infrastructure which will link the tower and its 450-linear feet of newly landscaped walkway to the Chicago Riverwalk.
Construction on the scheme is scheduled to commence before the year is through, while the building due to be ready for occupancy by early 2016.
