Canada based Ivanhoe Cambridge, the property management and development company that owns the St Enoch Centre, has completed the second phase of a GBP100 million ($143.3 million approx) refurbishment.
A distinct feature of the completed phase is a 20m extension to the food court that now fronts the St Enoch Square. The focal point of attraction is a Perspex sculpture overhanging a balcony above the main entrance. An expansive staircase, which previously carried pedestrians to a first floor entrance, has been removed. This area now allows space for outdoor seating and restaurants.
Ivanhoe Cambridge commenced the redevelopment of the mall in order to encourage a better public communication. The scheme will enhance the floor area to 1.3 million square feet and a new entrance at the corner of Argyle Street and Buchanan Street will be created.
Ivanhoe Cambridge is a property management and development company that formed from the merger of two companies, Ivanhoe and Cambridge, in 2001.
