The deal from BAA, which owns seven airports in the UK, including the largest – London Heathrow – provides engineering and design services for an expansion and enhancement of Gatwick Airport’s South Terminal.
The South Terminal program includes a new entrance forecourt, pier refurbishment, new immigration facilities and check-in concourse area. The program will be integrated with the development of the baggage facilities, which Jacobs designed. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Allyn Taylor, vice president of Jacobs Group, says, “This contract award further strengthens our relationship with BAA and we look forward to providing them with a diverse range of quality services.”
Jacobs Engineering received a Framework Agreement from NATS (En-Route) Limited to provide multi-disciplinary services for projects at various facilities within UK. Jacobs will provide a wide range of management, consultancy and design services relating to technical design, advisory, compliance and monitoring for both new-build and modifications of existing facilities and services.
Jacobs has a long standing relationship with NATS, having been project manager and designer of the new Prestwick Centre at Prestwick in Ayrshire, Scotland, one of two UK-based main operational centers for managing trans-Atlantic and UK airspace air traffic. The Framework Agreement is a continuance of this relationship.
