The award was given for the redesign of a client’s 35-year-old Westport dream kitchen. Initially the kitchen had a ceramic-tiled floor, formica countertops, pine cabinets and old appliances. It featured a window looking out to a screened porch with little light entering the kitchen.
Oak hardwood was used for the floor and honed Giallo Veneriano granite was incorporated into the countertops.
White semi custom alder cabinets were integrated and espresso glazed island and cook-top hood was added. The existing hardware was replaced by new oil-rubbed bronze hardware. New appliances were brought into the kitchen.
The window was removed and the cooking area was moved to the back wall. Her designed aided in making the custom-designed glass tile mosaic, the focal point of the room.
Functional space was added to the kitchen by moving the kitchen and laundry room further by about two feet. A seeded glass door pantry was installed into the laundry room.
The kitchen was technologically innovated with a message and telephone center and a built-in TV-internet system. The center has ample storing space.
Speroff said that she designs homes to suit the lifestyle, functional and emotional needs of her client’s family, in accordance with the client’s budget, whether that be having few options to choose from, or moving quickly to finish a project.
