The new ‘Ekranoyacht’ is conceived as a unique yacht that can fly four metres above the water at speeds of up to 400 km/h. The design was one of the entries for the Australian Design Award 2011.
The yacht is designed to comfortably accommodate six guests. The open floor living plan features large windows to let in ample natural light.
The new hydrogen-powered yacht can hover above the water using the ‘wing-in-ground-effect’. An electric drive motor can be used, while moving through sensitive coastal areas. The craft uses a hydrogen fuel cell to power the jets and provide electric power.
The design emphasizes on more efficient sea travel along with protecting the environment. The new ‘flying yacht’ is named after the famous cold-war ultra secret Soviet Union super vehicle ‘Ekranoplan’.
