The centre, situated in the western side of the Olathe Medical Centre, is the first building of the college to secure the certification. It features practical nursing and health occupation programmes while providing general education courses.
The facility incorporates a host of eco-friendly elements such as a geothermal heat pump. The building has been fitted with several windows to allow optimum natural light penetration throughout, which in turn reaps energy cost cuts. This, coupled with motion sensors and sensor-controlled lighting fixtures, further reduces energy consumption. Use of various energy-efficient measures leads to energy-savings of 48% as compared to traditional structures.
