The unit was expanded from six to twelve beds. It will be equipped with advanced neurological technology including double boom technology within a Neuro ICU. The technology installed over every patient bed will be used to allow patients a window view to the outdoors.

The hospital will be the first in Virginia to provide such application. The rooms are equipped with flat screen televisions as well as wireless internet service. Patient rooms incorporate glass panels on the interior walls to enable the passage of natural light to the corridors via the patient room.

Warm, natural finishes and natural light infusion have been used in the rooms along with wood finishes, resin panels and nature-inspired photographs to create a soothing ambience. The department has also upgraded its signage.

The company has earlier undertaken various projects for CJW Medical Center which includes the original design of CJW Johnston-Willis hospital in 1978.
