Komb House was exhibited at Le Marché, Egypt’s major furniture fair. The house is designed to be an ideal dwelling and uses technology to create a sense of family and community, and to minimise its impact on the environment. It incorporates features such as Gorenje’s energy-efficient appliances, solar panels and the reuse of grey water. The products in the Komb House designed by Karim Rashid for Gorenje, includes built-in ovens and an induction hob.
The built-in Gorenje oven is ‘A’ rated for energy efficiency. It features an EcoClean enamel coating, which reflects the heat into the centre of the oven rather than absorbing it, producing an even distribution of heat and cutting energy use. The energy-efficient rear fan and three shelves enables cooking of several dishes simultaneously without mixing of flavours, reducing energy use.
The induction hob has the characteristic looks of Karim Rashid designs and offers all the benefits of induction cooking. It uses 40% less power and is twice as fast as a gas hob, making it a suitable choice for an eco-friendly house.
