Designed by Wilkins, Hinrichs and Stober, the project included expansion of the 5,000 square feet airport terminal by 1,800 square feet in the eastern side. This created more space for a bigger secured passenger waiting section with a capacity to accommodate 60 as compared to the previous 40. The area will also feature restrooms and vending machines.
The refurbished terminal now comprises additional non-secure seating as well a baggage claim area. The vestibule has been revamped in the place where passengers arrive and depart to segregate them. The entrance has been remodelled with two drives to facilitate two vehicles to drive up and be protected by a long awning.
The project also includes a new office area for the Transportation Security Administration. The upgrade is expected to ease traffic flow inside as well as outside the airport.
The project has been entirely financed by the City’s special one-half-cent sales tax.
