The co-op has already raised $7,000 for renovations, mainly from members. The money will be used for organizational and cosmetic plans, according to former co-op president Rick Hawksley, including a new awning and a new floor.
The store will be repainted, and the register will be upgraded to incorporate new bar codes, a touch-screen and a scale. Plans are also on the cards to take out the walk-in cooler and the office to create another 200 feet of display space.
The improvement plan was motivated by a survey carried out among members regarding the changes and improvements that customers would like to see in the shops. Kent Natural Foods Co-Op is a member owned society, offering chemical and additive-free food to the public.
