Kingspan has launched a new company, Kingspan Controlled Environments, to supply insulated panels for the cold storage and food preparation market. The announcement follows Kingspans acquisition, in May 2005, of Advance Thermal Composites (ATC). The launch of the new business underlines Kingspans commitment to expand the application of its unique insulated panel technology into the controlled environment sector.
The new company will offer a suite of fire-safe, hygienic, fibre-free solutions for internal and external walls, roofs and ceilings within chill, cold store, temperature controlled and hygiene-safe situations.
Kingspan Controlled Environments will be headed by general manager Mark Crimmins, who joins the company from Kingspan Access Floors, where he was business development director. ATCs former sales manager Tony Harrold is appointed sales director, while ATCs Les Nixon becomes a director of the new company.
Said Mark Crimmins: The acquisition of ATC strengthens Kingspans offer in this important market where temperature control, hygiene and fire safety are the key requirements. We will be promoting the benefits of fibre-free panels for internal compartments, with a suite of solutions for every application.
The new companys offer combines two systems, Kingspans KS 1100/1150 CS range and the range developed by ATC, both suitable for use within an internal temperature range of +35°C to -40°C. Their unique PIR fibre-free core means there is no risk from airborne fibres, a common problem with mineral fibre systems, which can cause difficulties and lead to hygiene failure in a clinically clean food environment.
Kingspan Controlled Environments full range is LPCB certified to LPS 1208 and LPS 1181, the category officially recognised by the Association of British Insurers for use within a non-combustible fire-safety specification, with no premium loading for the building owner. The system is also the first in Europe to have been granted approval with no height restriction from insurer, FM Global.
