Kraft Field is the home to Grand Forks youth teams, local high schools, the American Legion programs and UND. The Grand Forks Park District has sought proposals from companies to provide design and construction services for the installment of artificial turf on the infield.
The priority on the renovation list is the improvement of the infield. The installation of artificial turf on the infield will precede installation on the outfield. Any excess money available will be channeled towards up-gradation of the rest of the field, including dugouts, a grandstand, and a clubhouse. A detailed plan for these outlays has not been decided yet. The officials are also planning to cover the whole area with artificial turf.
The soil at Kraft Field was tested to give potential artificial turf companies a better idea of installation costs.
