Renovation work in the 77-year-old stadium includes major changes like installation of a new artificial surface with the dugouts been widened and deepened. The facility has also been equipped with an advanced new lighting and electrical system.
Contract for replacing the turf and expanding the dugouts had a budget of $980,000 and was secured by ATG. The new surface comprises a large Wingnuts logo in the centre field and logos behind home plate and near the on-deck circles on both sides of the home-plate. The major upgrade works had a total budget of $2.2 million.
The lighting and electrical refurbishment cost over $1 million and includes installation of eight new light poles with new bulbs. The facility also incorporates a major-league lit facility which lights up like a Christmas tree. Other facilities include base anchors at different distances which will enable the stadium to conduct youth baseball games or slow-pitch softball tournaments. There will be artwork on the concourse, wall pads in the outfield and down the base lines.
The facility also underwent minor refurbishments which included installation of video board, some seating arrangements as well as upgrading few portions of the stadium which had been damaged by the hail storm of 2009. Funding for these changes came from Wingnuts’ remaining insurance money from the hail storm of 2009.
Work on the stadium started on 23 February 2011 and was mostly completed within two months.
