The new terminal, developed by Coriport SA, will cover an area of 23,000 square metres. It will comprise 30 new check-in counters, a mini-market, a Lafise bank kiosk as well as a money-changing station. There will also be a security barrier which will be wider in dimensions compared to the existing one. The passenger terminal will also incorporate a new checkpoint comprising advanced equipments like five state-of-the-art X-ray machines and three metal detectors.
Among the chargeable features of the terminal include a new lounge offering free wireless internet access, a relaxation space and a section dedicated for kids. The entire facility will provide paid wireless internet service. The second storey of the terminal will house a money-changing station, Café Players restaurant, and a host of commercial shopping areas such as a duty free store, Café Britt, Bertero jewelry as well as Red Global Oak Art Gallery. In addition, there will be an air-conditioned immigration zone downstairs, along with a pair of baggage claim carousels.
Departing passengers will enter the facility from the facade on the north side. The arriving and departing travellers will be divided through a large aisle corridor positioned along the length of the facility. A plate glass will however, allow glimpses of each other.
