The new 64,000 square feet Martin Luther King Jr. Health Center is designed to handle about 100,000 patient visits per annum. The clinic comprises six family practice suites, obstetric suites, pediatric suites, imaging services, eye clinic, dental clinic, pharmacy and minor urgent care suite. Besides all these facilities, a 10,000 square feet eligibility center, where Harris County residents can register for services, is also featured.

The facility is designed to benefit from abundant natural light into the key public spaces and staff circulation and work areas with the installation of skylights. Separate covered entrances are featured at the main clinic, the eligibility center and the urgent care department.

The landscaped parking lot accommodating over 500 parking spaces is designed to mirror the urban context and fit into the residential neighborhood.

PageSoutherlandPage provided architecture, programming, medical planning, MEP engineering and finishes to the facility. The ribbon cutting ceremony was held on May 14, 2010. The new community health center developed as part of the Harris County Hospital District is expected to provide a convenient and comprehensive healthcare facility for the surrounding neighborhoods.
