Guoman’s ‘The Cumberland Hotel’ was one of the last places in which the iconic rock legend stayed, days before his early death 40 years ago on 18 September 1970.
Mary Gannon and her senior associate Cynthia Garcia sourced vintage gems from the 60s and 70s for their latest project.
Mary commissioned Andie Airfix of Satori to design a three metre mural of Hendrix which is placed over the bed in the suite. He has also decorated a ‘flying V’ guitar in the style of Hendrix.
Keith Altham, the journalist, who was a friend of Hendrix’s and did the last interview with him, loaned Mary some of the New Musical Express covers which were copied and framed at the suite.
