Bill Dohm, chairman of the Harbor Springs Petoskey Area Airport Authority, said that the funding will enable them to complete the interior of the main terminal, Phase I, and add the garage and carport, Phase II. He also adds that the garage will enable them to keep the day to day equipment readily accessible to the main terminal operation area, and the carport will keep the fuel trucks under cover near the operations area.
The garage will also enable them to transfer connections of the automated weather observation station (AWOS) to the main terminal for pilot flight planning purposes.
Dohm was reported stating that the funding still leaves them short about $45,000 local share. With the construction of new terminal on schedule, the project is expected to complete by 2010.
