MCR, the newest addition to the Poudre Valley Health System, is considered as the largest and most complex LEED Gold-certified hospital in the US.

Heery’s design team has conceived the 136-bed medical facility as a sustainable building integrated with a host of eco-friendly features. All these sustainable elements have helped the facility to enhance daylight and water efficiency, both of which are considered difficult to achieve in designing a healthcare facility.

The new hospital’s family-centered design features all private rooms, complete with sleeper sofas for family members, and private corridors and elevators to move patients to and from their rooms. Most patient rooms enjoy a breathtaking view of Long’s Peak, walking trails and courtyards with water features. A rooftop terrace provides opportunities for patients and their families to relax and enjoy the outdoors.

The awards were presented on June 8, 2010 at the University of Toronto in Canada. The facility also received the Greener Facilities Grand Prize by Buildings magazine.
