Merritt Properties based in Baltimore, Maryland, was honored during the award gala held at the Baltimore Museum of Art, on April 22, 2010. NAIOP-Maryland’s Awards of Excellence honors members and individuals for outstanding accomplishments or contributions to the local commercial real estate industry.

The Best Industrial Build-to-Suit award was given for the new corporate facility for Bakery Express at 4711 Hollins Ferry Road in Baltimore. The project involved demolishing an existing structure to construct a 210,000 square foot manufacturing and retail facility. The facility features 10,500 square feet of freezer space and multiple donut overhead assembly lines.

Merritt scooped the Best Interior-Tenant Fitout award for Firaxis Games’ new headquarters at 10 Loveton Circle in Sparks. The scheme involved transformation of a traditional office space in such a way that the design would reflect the gaming company’s unique culture. The facility features an employee breakout room with gaming consoles, foosball and pool table, a workout room and an outdoor basketball and volleyball court.

The Best LEED Office and the Best Rehab Office recognitions were given to Schilling Green, a Class A office building in Hunt Valley. Merritt was also honored with the Environmentally Friendly Business award for its leadership and commitment to green building. The company’s portfolio of ‘green’ credentials include one LEED-Gold certified building; one that seeks LEED-EM O&M Silver, 15 registered LEED-EBOM projects and eight additional LEED projects under development.

Merritt Properties’ commercial real estate portfolio includes about 16 million square feet of office, flex, warehouse and retail.
