Located close to the college’s academic campus, the scheme focuses on creating a facility that can combine healing and educational environment complementing the college’s philosophy and teaching methods.
The new medical center of SCNM will house six class rooms, teaching space, a retail pharmacy, a community outreach clinic including 25 private office or exam rooms, and a new hydrotherapy clinic.
The design mirrors naturopathic principles of disease prevention and healing. It will incorporate hybrid teaching and research spaces. It positions all the important areas such as corridors, waiting lounges, and classrooms facing the exterior courtyard, offering views of drought-tolerant plantings. The acoustics design creates a sense of quiet and calm atmosphere.
The 40,000 square feet renovation of the existing building started in late 2009 and the ground was broken in April 2010. The new facility is designed to replace the current medical center.
The design-build project is being completed in association with Kitchell Construction.
