Vendome Group, publishers of Healthcare Design magazine, and The Center for Health Design (CHD), a non-profit research, education, and advocacy organization, announced that Graves will be the opening keynote speaker at the Healthcare Design ’09 conference.

The Healthcare Design conference is devoted to how the design of responsibly built environments has a direct impact on the safety, operation, clinical outcomes, and financial success of healthcare facilities now and in the future.

This conference is for all professionals involved in the design, build, and operation of healthcare facilities, including top administrators and operations executives, architects, interior designers, facility managers, as well as researchers, students, and educators. In 2008, Healthcare Design had over 3,600 attendees spanning the healthcare industry.

Debra Levin, president and CEO of The Center, says that Michael’s stated design philosophy — that healthcare settings need to serve those who work and receive care in them — is very much in alignment with The Center’s mission to transform healthcare environments through design research.

In addition to Healthcare Design, Vendome Group and The Center produce Environments for Aging, a conference designed to educate architects, designers, builders, owners, and government agencies on the planning and design of next-generation, elder-friendly environments, and X3 Summit, a unique event that focuses on the fusion of technology, clinical care, and facility design, and explores how to financially maximize their interaction.
