The roof of Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome (or Metrodome) in Minnesota, the home field of Minnesota Vikings, collapsed due to the weight of heavy snow.
Vikings has been pressing for a new stadium, since the Vikings’ current lease with the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission (MSFC), as signed by both parties in August 1979, keeps them in the Metrodome until 2011. The team is exploring a number of options, including building a retractable-roof facility on the Metrodome site or in a Twin Cities suburb.
According to the team, building a new home for Vikings football will provide fans with a state-of-the-art facility that features wider concourses, easily accessible concourses, more restrooms and an enhanced overall game day experience.
