MOBIL M has refurbished the pharmacy, redesigning the store’s interior by integrating the motifs of the forests of Basque Country. The tiles on the floor are designed to resemble those found in the historic center of Bilbao – the largest city in Basque. The antique floor of the hydraulic mosaic has been chosen with this purpose in mind.
A unique kind of zebra crossing is featured between floor and ceiling. This black and white palette gives the illusion of nearness between the upper and lower part of the shop and sets a contrast with the green color that builds the visual identity.
The store features huge pictures of flora, and illuminated glass counters. This is integrated to evoke the feeling of running water and instills an atmosphere of calm. The store features back paneled furniture, another ‘nature-inspired’ addition to the pharmacy.
The 35 square meter space also integrates automation pharmacy through an automated storage system hidden in the cellar, making optimum utilization of space.
The Plaza Nueva drugstore is located in the emblematic square Plaza Nueva, a protected site due to its significance as a historical center of the city. The pharmacy opened about 100 years ago, and had not received any refurbishment since then. The new owner wanted a complete renewal, taking into consideration the historic value of the surroundings.
