The NASCAR Plaza Class A Office Tower has been developed by property developer Lauth Group. The tower is integrated with the NASCAR Hall of Fame and is adjacent to the Charlotte Convention Center. The NASCAR Hall of Fame is a state-of-the-art facility that honors National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) icons and creates an enduring tribute to the drivers.
Pei Cobb Freed & Partners has integrated a string of green features into the structure, which is regarded as one of the most environmentally-responsible office towers in the Southeast.
One-third of the building has been constructed using recycled materials. Water efficiency is achieved as the building is designed to use 30% less water than a conventional building. Renewable sources provide 35% of the building’s electricity requirements. Construction process involved diverting more than 75% of construction waste from landfills.
Another sustainable feature is that the building is equipped with energy-efficient air conditioning systems that do not use chemicals that harm the ozone layer or CFC refrigerants which also contribute to global warming.
Pei Cobb Freed & Partners’ other renowned works are the expanded Louvre in Paris, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, the John Hancock Tower in Boston and the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington DC.
