The new hospital is over thrice the size of the current facility. It features 32 acute-care beds with a capacity to be expanded to 38, 24/7 emergency services, and IV Therapy Clinics. It will also provide obstetrics, general Surgery, ophthalmology, radiology, rehabilitation, pharmacy and lab services. Further, the hospital will comprise space for consolidation of specialized community health services.
Among various distinct features of the hospital include touchless door openers, hand hygiene sinks, cleanable surfaces to prevent microbial growth, and separate air exchanges in all patient rooms to resist spread of airborne viruses.
The hospital will abide by several LEED features. It includes installation of heat-reflective roof, and triple-pane windows which will reduce its energy consumption. Energy usage will be further decreased with incorporation of sun shades, motion sensor-controlled lighting fixtures, and efficient air-handling units. Use of low- or no-VOC materials like paint, caulking, adhesives, flooring, and incorporation of hybrid vehicle charging stations add to the sustainability.
The facility is slated to open by April 2012.
