The new $30 million 23rd District Police Station has replaced the current station that was built in the 1930’s. The current station was Chicago’s oldest operating police station and did not have adequate space or amenities to service the Town Hall District.
The new high-tech police station located at 850 W. Addison is designed to accommodate a staff of 450 people and will contain male/female locker rooms, roll call room, exercise room, sallyport, holding cells, interview rooms, evidence areas, 100-seat community room, administrative and general offices, 361-space dual service parking structure and a 150ft communications tower.
The project has been designed to achieve LEED-Gold certification. Sustainable elements integrated into the new building include a turbine generator waste heat recovery system, heat island effect reduction pavement, drought resistant landscaping, and a sophisticated building energy management system.
The Architect of Record for the project was Wight & Company.
