The facility will be the first in the UAE to win the certification. It employs a host of sustainable measures to reduce energy and water consumption. The facility will also reduce waste and maximise reclamation.

The facility’s atrium air conditioning has resulted in energy cost cuts of 50% with the use of displacement ventilation. This, coupled with other energy-efficient features, has reaped energy savings of about 23.1%. The water-efficient systems of the building have led to 47.4% reduction in water usage over a traditional building. It will also incorporate a waste recycling method to result in annual savings of 50% on Abu Dhabi Municipality charges.

The building is slated to wrap up construction by 2013.
