The 31-storey facility situated at 1 Riverside Plaza in Columbus spans over an area of 813,689 square feet and is considered to be AEP’s first LEED certification from the US Green Building Council.
Renovations in the facility have reduced its annual energy consumption by 17%. The firm has also installed the building with advanced technologies to help recycle about 65% of the total ongoing consumables produced by it.
The structure was completed in 1983 and has also secured US EPA’s ENERGY STAR certification in 2010. The company has four other LEED-certified buildings for new construction which includes its Transmission Operations Centre in New Albany, Ohio, a service centre in Marietta, Ohio, a service centre in Rogers, Arkansas as well as a service centre in Decatur, Indiana.
