The new patient tower, known as the Hospital Pavilion, includes an expanded emergency room for adults that will treat 100,000 patients annually, a new pediatric emergency room and pediatric in-patient unit, 50 new private patient rooms, and eight new operating rooms. Some of other new facilities include a new neonatal intensive care unit, a health sciences pavilion, two pedestrian skywalks, four parking garages and the patient tower.
The expanded emergency room of the hospital will feature a new entrance, spacious waiting areas, new patient monitoring system and expanded triage area. The new pediatric emergency room was specially designed for young patients with a bright, fun and nautical theme recreating downtown Annapolis. It features an emergency room for children under age 17, an inpatient unit, and a playroom with games and toys.
The expansion of the Annapolis hospital’s Medical Park campus has doubled the size of its existing space by adding new medical facilities and buildings. Features of the AAMC expansion include new cafeteria, Central Sterile Processing, and Pathology on Garden Level; Emergency Department, Pediatrics Emergency, Department and Pediatrics Inpatient Unit, and Emergency Radiology on First Floor; eight new operating rooms, PACU, and Pre-Op on Second Floor; a shell for future expansion on Third Floor; patient care units such as Hematology/Oncology on Fourth Floor; patient care units such as General Surgery on Fifth Floor; and a shell for future expansion on Sixth Floor.
