A part of a $1.5 billion bridge project, the 3.43 miles bridge will connect Bangladesh’s southwest region with its capital, Dhaka.

The design will incorporate communications infrastructure, a gas-transmission pipeline and have the ability to carry a future railway. The bridge will shorten the travel time to southwest by several hours, thereby allowing the government to increase the country’s GDP (gross domestic product) by 1.2%.
