In addition to building a new entrance, work will include creation of extra meeting rooms, technical upgrades as well as a new entrance.
Upgrades will also feature a literacy room to facilitate people having reading disabilities. The exterior of the building will be refaced with brick as against the existing white panels.
Renovations will be carried out in the structure’s layout. The northern part of the facility will accommodate administration offices, while the southern segment will comprise the library branch.
The book drop-off will also undergo improvements so that people do not have to leave their vehicles to return items of the library.
Further, the building will be equipped with a highly efficient HVAC system to cut down operating expenditures. Renovations will also incorporate reduction in the size of the south parking area as well as drainage upgrades in the area.
Bids for the project are expected by June 2011 with refurbishment works commencing in July. The renovated facility is expected to be ready within 18 months.
Financial terms of the project has not been determined yet.
