The Viceroy Hotel has been constructed by a joint venture between CFC Construction (CFC) and PLC Construction Services. The hotel has been designed by OZ Architecture. The hotel sprawls over an area of 365,000 square feet and comprises a resort and conference center with 154 rooms, full-service spa, underground parking, indoor and outdoor Après Ski Bar and swimming pool.

The JV, while constructing the place, laid importance on usage of design and construction practices that leave a minimal environmental footprint. The construction team, to make the hotel compliant with LEED guideline, laid emphasis on sustainable construction operations, diversion of waste and efficient energy and water.

To make the hotel’s operations energy efficient, Viceroy promoted mass transportation for the workers, and trimmed down the requirement for other transportation. Construction process was completed using locally sourced building materials and reused soil.

Construction waste generated during the development was recycled and reused and reduced. The hotel re-manufactured plumbing, electrical assemblies and concrete structure to reduce additional wastage. The guests are provided with metal, refillable water bottles which they can refill from the numerous refilling stations in the resort.

The parking area is located at lower grade which facilitated in preserving 50% open space and cut back imperviable surfaces. The resort is adorned with local plants rendering it a feel of the region. To conserve water, the resort has low-flow plumbing fixtures, waterless urinals and dual flush toilets.

The Viceroy Hotel will use renewable energy sources to meet 70% of its energy requirements in the initial two years of the resort. The systems of the building have optimal energy performance. The resort also uses special exterior lighting that will cause less light pollution while increasing visibility in the dark. Additionally, the rooms in the hotel are equipped with thermostats and motion sensors that activate or deactivate heating/cooling system depending upon the occupancy of the room.
